This thing is great - so easy to use and quick, March 18, 2016 This thing is great - so easy to use and quick. I went to my sister's house to help prepare for my mothers birthday get together. I brought this mandolin with me because my sister wanted to make a few veggie trays for the party. You know - cucumbers, carrots and bell peppers - Well long story short - I had all of the veggies sliced and trays ready before she could even find the knife she wanted to use!!! My kids love when I make fresh potato chips for them - they are so fast to make - grab a potato and slice away - it just takes a second(and there are no chemicals or additives - just fresh potato!). I also use this to make fruit and veggie chips in the dehydrator - another of the kids favorites and again - I know exactly what is in what they are eating - nothing but fresh fruits and veggies. - Do be very carefull though as the blade is extremely sharp (excellent for slicing, but a little scary when you need to handle them). It comes with 5 blades - 3 make slices of different thicknesses from paper thin to perfect for dipping - the other two are for julian slices (like french fries or carrot sticks) - there is a small and a large size for that type of slicing as well. I love the button that is used to remove the blades, it makes it much easier to remove them without getting cut. I would never allow a child to use this - ever.
